As you probably already know I’m teaching both regular sewing classes and bramaking workshops in Madrid at the Historias Hiladas Madrid sewing academy. Now I’ve been also starting to teach the bramaking workshops outside Madrid and this month I was in Tarragona (close to Barcelona, Spain).
This is actually not my first workshop away from home after the pandemic started. This summer I also teached two workshops while I was in Estonia visiting my family (and working on things related to my online shop that is based there). I had a plan to teach there for quite some time but when I’m in Estonia I’m usually so busy with the online shop and it’s supposed to be the time I’m on vacation so I never really found a good moment to announce a class.
Until this summer when I actually teached two workshops. The first one was in the village where I’m from and the second one was in Tartu (thank you so much Kristin and Aive for contacting me and for your help with the organization of these classes). Both courses were really great and I was really happy to meet other sewing enthusiasts in Estonia!
And on 9th of October I was in Tarragona (close to Barcelona) in a workshop organized by Mei. This time it was a full day of sewing underwired bras. Mei had organized everything in such a good way, her space was amazing and everyone who came to the course left with pretty bras. These courses are always so intensive (8 hours of concentration...and sharing stories and laughing, haha) but I felt like I was at home and got so much positive energy from this group. I really couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
My next workshop outside of Madrid will be in Valencia! I’m going there to teach two classes about sewing panties and bralettes on 6th of November, if you’re there you should definitely come, I’m sure it will be a lot of fun. There are still a couple of free spots, you can sign up here. This time I’ll be teaching in a fabric shop called Arte con Telas and I’m really looking forward to visiting Valencia as I’ve never been to this city and everyone says it’s very pretty.
And I already have two courses planned for 2022 but I’ll update the information about the exact details very soon. In January (29-30) I’ll be in Tartu (Estonia) again and in February we’re repeating a workshop in Tarragona. And of course I’m teaching a lingerie class every month in Madrid. You can see my class calendar at the classes section of this page :)
In the beginning of this summer I started to think about teaching outside Madrid and this is when I started to contact people I know to see if I could organize something. Before the pandemic I had teached one time in San Sebastian (North of Spain) but back then I felt that all the energy I had to put into travelling and teaching outside of my own academy was too much for me and I didn’t really consider this as something I would like to do.
But this time it has been different and I think that the key difference is that I have found amazing people who have organized the event with me (or directly for me, hehe). I’m now so open to ideas of new places to go to teach my classes as I really enjoy these experiences a lot. Preparing a course takes a lot of time and travelling is of course fun but it’s also exhausting and I always need some recovery time afterwards (something that is hard to organize as I always come back to a regular schedule of classes with no rest time in between).
I really like meeting people in my classes and it’s always amazing to share stories with them, sewing people are truly amazing. But I’m also a true introvert in my private life...events like these make me want to have quite a lot of alone time afterwards to gain my energy back, hehe. Right now I’m really trying to balance my work life in a way that I can actually feel good and have these very social experiences followed by time when I’m working on my own. I’m very grateful for these new opportunities and sometimes I really have to pinch myself to believe that all of this is happening in my life :) It has been a long way and so many hours of work but I couldn’t be happier to see all these new paths in front of me!
That said…I hope I can meet some of you in my future classes, wherever they will take place :)
