Hola, aquí va mi sujetador más reciente. Estoy enamorada de esta tela de punto de viscosa que hace poco añadí a la tienda y quería hacer una muestra para que veáis cómo queda en un sujetador. También quería probar a hacer un sujetador sin aros, tipo bralette, usando foam. Decidí por probar el patrón Jasmine de Ohhh Lulu después de ver uno que hizo Rachel y la idea me convenció.
Hey, here goes my latest bra make. I'm in love with this viscose knit fabric I recently added to the shop and I wanted to make a sample so you could see it in action. I also wanted to try out making a soft bra with foam lining. I decided to use Jasmine bra pattern from Ohhh Lulu after seeing Rachels version of it on her blog as the idea looked good to me.
Para empezar, debería decir que ha sido el proyecto de sujetador donde más he tenido que descoser y ha sido un auténtico coñazo de terminar...no porque sea difícil de construcción ni nada (más bien al revés, es muy fácil!) pero parece que era uno de estos proyectos donde todo lo que puede ir mal va mal, o sea cada.uno.de.los.pasos. Hasta hacer fotos para que quede medianamente bien ha sido todo una aventura, jajaa. Por eso hay pocas fotos, lo siento!
Estaba a punto para no subirlo, pero luego pensé que estaría bien documentarlo todo, no sólo lo que queda bien. Y así os cuento un poco los pasos etc por si a alguien le sirve de ayuda. Para empezar, volvemos a lo mismo que ya conté cuando hice el bralette Josephine de Ohhh Lulu: que las tallas no van como en los sujetadores normales donde tengo la talla europea 80A y hay que ver un poco si la copa y el largo de la prenda coinciden. Lo que hice era coger la copa en talla más pequeña y dejar los costados en la talla mediana. Eso ha resultado en una talla correcta en las copas, pero al final terminé reduciendo los costados más también.
To start with I'd say that I think it's the bra I've had to unpick the most and it has been a nightmare to finish...not because it would be a difficult piece or anything (actually it's really easy!) but looks like it was one of those projects where everything that can go wrong, goes wrong...I mean every. single.step.of.it. Even taking photos that would look at least a bit good was a difficult task, hehe. That's why there are not so many of them in this post, sorry!
I was about to not post this bra but then I thought that it would be nice to document everything, not only the good results of my sewing. So then I can also tell you a bit about the steps and maybe it helps someone. To start with the sizing, like when I made the Josephine bralette from Ohhh Lulu, there had to be some size modifications made as the band size and cup size are not "divided" in this pattern (it goes small, medium etc). What I did was to choose the smallest size on the cup pieces and the medium size on tha band. This was a right choise for the cups but in the end I chopped off the band a bit too.
Usar el foam en las copas es bastante fácil y puedes ver cómo hacerlo en este tutorial de Cloth Habit. Las piezas del foam se unen con zigzag y luego tapé las costuras con unas tiras hechas del sheer lining, me gusta la combinación de colores por cierto. El foam que he usado no es el "verdadero" foam de sujetadores pero es practicamente similar, lo encontré el año pasado en la sección de disfraces (en mis búsquedas infinitas de materiales de lencería) y funciona bien.
Después de cortar las piezas y antes de añadir los elásticos le puse los cierres para ver como quedaba. Me pareció algo "grande" en general así que recorté el borde superior por aprox 2 cm y me gusta más así. Entonces se me ocurrió que quedaría bien un detalle de encaje en el escote...lo que pasa es que no es tan fácil de coser si ya tienes la mitad del todo montado y cosido juntos. Pero eso hice y desde luego no quedó del todo simétrico y aunque lo descosí y volví a coser pues no estoy muy contenta. Pero en este punto estaba ya en modo "lo voy a terminar y me da igual".
Using foam in the cups is quite easy and you can use this tutorial on Cloth Habits blog to try it out yourself. The foam pieces are sewn together using zigzag stitch and I also covered them with strips of sheer lining, I actually really like that color combination there. The foam I used is not the "orginal" bramaking foam but it's very similar, I found it last year in the costume section in the fabric store (when on my long adventures on finding bramaking supplies) and it works well.
After cutting out the pieces and before attatching the elastics I basted on the closures to try the fit. It seemed a bit "big" overall so I cut down the upper part of the bra by 2 cm aprox and I like it more that way. Then it ocurred to me that a lace detail in the front would be a good idea...the thing is that it's not so easy to do when you have everything half sewn together already. But I did it anyway and it isn't all symmetric and altough I did unpick and sew it again and again I'm not happy with it. But at that point I was already in the stage of "I'm going to finish it no matter what".
Los tirantes los moví un pelín hacia los lados porque me pareció que quedaban muy en el centro. Al poner el elástico de arriba lo cosí y volví coser tantas veces que estaba ya harta...entre la cero simetría de mi encaje y la elección de un elástico demasiado estrecho era un horror. Se ve que la tela del exterior se ha movido un poco pero en realidad no es muy grave porque al ponerlo se queda todo estirado y sin esas arrugas que aparecen en la foto.
Pero todo el "esfuerzo" y los ratos pasados con el descosedor realmente no me llevaron a algo que me guste mucho. Pues sí que es cómodo, me gusta que el foam le da más estructura al sujetador y la combinación de tela y encaje, la rosa y el negro...todo eso me gusta. Peeeero, yo tengo poco pecho y lo que hace este corte es que lo aplana aún más. No sé muy bien por qué, pero supongo que será porque no hay como una curva en el corte que marque más la forma natural del pecho?! La verdad es que ni idea y me imagino que a las que tenéis más "relleno" eso no pasa pero yo con lo poco que tengo pues no me parece muy bonito el resultado.
I moved the straps a bit on the side as they seemed to be too much in the center for me. When I attatched the underarm and neckline elastic I had to unpick so many times and it sure didn't make me very happy...my zero symmetric lace detail and the too narrow elastic I chose made it kind of horrible. You can see that the exterior fabric has moved a bit but actually it's not so bad because when you wear the bra it all stretches and there are no wrinkles like on the photo.
But all my "hard work" and the time passed with the seam ripper actually didn't take me to a result I'd like too much. It is comfortable, I like the foam and the support it gives and the color and material combination is lovely. Buuuut, I have small breasts and this type of pattern makes them look even smaller while making it all very "flat". I'm not sure why but this type of seamlines that don't accent the natural curves of the breast maybe are the reason?! I really don't know and maybe you women with more curves don't have this type of problem with this kind of patterns but for me the result is not the most flattering.
Ya me he quejado mucho no? Jaja...pues yo qué sé, he aprendido muchas cosas al coser este sujetador, muchas cosas que hay que revisar y volver a revisar. Y me gusta mucho cómo se ve en general este patrón, además Ohhh Lulu tiene unos tutoriales muy buenos para coserlo con encaje etc. Pero creo que por el momento a mí no me va y quiero probar el tema del foam con algún otro patrón, quizás el Watson para ver si la cosa se mejora. Os mantendré informados!
So I've complained enough right? Hehee...well, I sure have learned many things when sewing this bra, many things to consider and reconsider. And I really like how this pattern looks in general, also Ohhh Lulu is having a very nice sew along with video tutorials to sew it with lace etc. But at the moment it doesn't make it for me and I'll try out foam with other patterns, maybe a Watson to see if it look better. I'll inform you of course!

Hola! Hoy os traigo un post sobre mis herramientas favoritas de costura que tengo en el taller. Para empezar quiero decir que en mi opinión para empezar a coser no necesitas mucho más que la máquina de coser (que no tiene que ser lo más guay, para probar si te gusta coser cualquiera te vale) y ganas de aprender. No hay herramienta que cosa por ti ni haga milagros si tu todavía no sabes lo básico...tu mejor herramienta es el tiempo, porque sólo el tiempo (con práctica) hace que las costuras salgan más rectas y estés más contenta con los resultados. Pero...hay cositas que hacen tu vida más fácil y si ves que te gusta mucho la costura y vas poco a poco comprando herramientas, yo puedo recomendar las siguientes:
Hey! Today I’m writing about my favourite sewing tools I have here in my atelier. For starters I’d like to say that to start sewing as a hobby you don’t really need much more than a sewing machine (doesn’t have to be a fancy one, any model is good to try it out) and an interest to learn something new. No tool will sew for you or make miracles happen if you’re not familiar with the basics yet...your best tool is time, because only the time (with prectice) will make your seams straighter and your overall results better. But...there are some things that make your life esier and if you really like to sew and you are little by little buying stuff for your sewing kit, I’d recommend the following ones:
Si sólo podría comprar una cosa, serían las tijeras buenas. Son fáciles de encontrar y con un poco de cuidado te duran mucho mucho tiempo. Yo prefiero un tamaño intermedio como estas de 16 cm (las mías son de Tres Claveles) porque son buenas tanto para cortar tela como para tenerlas al lado de la máquina para cortar hilos etc. Tijeras baratas que no cortan bien hacen que tu trabajo no sea divertido para nada!
If I could only buy one thing it would be a pair of good sharp scissors. They are easy to find and with a little bit of care they will last a long long time. I prefer a medium size like these ones of 16 cm (mine are Tres Claveles) because they work both for cutting fabric and they are good to have next to your machine to cut threads etc. Bad cheap scissors will make sewing no fun at all!
Yo llevaba varios años cosiendo antes de que mi madre me regale estas tres herramientas. O sea, no son imprescindibles para nada pero sí que son de mucha utilidad y te facilitan el corte muchísimo. Yo uso la marca japonesa Olfa y es de muy buena calidad, la única vez que usé otra cosa era un cutter de Tres Claveles y no me gustó nada (sin embargo las tijeras me encantan...).
Aunque puede que estas herramientas están más conocidas en el mundo de patchwork, para mí el cutter es ideal para cortar telas de punto porque tienes cortes muy limpios y no tienes que mover la tela para cortar. Lo único es que tienes que tener una plancha suficientemente grande para no estar todo el rato moviendo toda la pieza para cortar, claro. La plancha que tengo es de 60 x 45 cm y me parece un tamaño bueno, no compraría uno más pequeño porque sería incómodo. Más grande me encantaría o tener dos como ésta, pero son bastante caras y por el momento me apaño bien.
I had been sewing for years before my mom gave me these three tools as a present. They for sure are not essential tools for dressmaking but I find them really useful and they make cutting so easy. I use a Japanese brand Olfa and it’s a great quality, the one time I tried other brands was when using a Tres Claveles rotary cutter and I wasn’t happy at all (altough their scissors are great...).
Altough these sewing tools are more commonly known to be used in patchwork, for me the rotary cutter is the best thing to cut knit fabrics because it really cuts so clean and you don’t need to move the fabric when cutting. The only thing is that you need a cutting mat big enough to not be moving the piece around all the time. My mat is 60 x 45 cm and I find this size a good one, I wouldn’t buy a smaller one because it would be uncomfortable. A bigger one or two of those ones of course would be nice but they are quite pricey and at the moment I’m good with the on I have.
La regla es de 60 x 15 cm y es súper útil incluso si no usas el cutter – gracias a los cuadros es muy fácil ir midiendo y escuadrando piezas, lo uso a diario y lo compraría incluso si no tuviera el cutter y la plancha.
Me encantan las tres herramientas pero el cutter desde luego tiene su lado negativo también – las cuchillas son caras y para tener un corte súper limpio como cuando recién estrenas la cuchilla pues tienes que ir cambiandola a menudo (aunque yo las uso hasta que ya no sale nada de nada, jaja). Si al principio iba cortando casi todas las telas que pude según el proyecto etc con el cutter, ahora lo limito más a las telas de punto para que las cuchillas duren más tiempo. Lo que suelo hacer es usando la regla, marco las piezas con tiza en las telas normales y luego los corto con las tijeras.
Aparte del cutter mediano de 45 mm tengo un cutter más pequeño de 18 mm que uso para lencería y es muy cómodo al ser más pequeño para las curvas (pero se puede cortar perfectamente también con el más grande).
The ruler I have is 60 x 15 cm and it’s so useful even if you didn’t use the rotary cutter at all – thanks to the lines on it it is really easy to measure and line up pieces, I use it daily and I would buy it even without the cutter and the mat.
I love those three tools but the rotary cutter has its downside too – the blades are expensive and to have this super clean cut like when you first use a new blade you have to change it quite often (altough I use them until they don’t cut anything anymore, haha). When in the beginning I was using the rotary cutter for every fabric and project I could, now I mostly use it for knit fabrics to save up on blades. I still use the ruler a lot to mark things, I just cut them out with the normal scissors.
Apart from the 45 mm rotary cutter I also have a smaller 18 mm cutter for bramaking and it’s very comfortable for the smaller curves (but you could perfectly cut with the bigger blade when being more careful).
Ya que estamos con corte, uno de mis favoritos totales es el cortahilos. Igual no es muy conocido en el mundo de costura “casera” pero es muy muy cómodo y se usa mucho en la confección industrial. Es ideal para tener al lado de la máquina para cortar hilos ya que es más rápido de usar que las tijeras y también sirve para descoser. Es una herramienta barata, pero de mi experiencia os recomiendo siempre comprar los más normales de metal y nada más, como en la foto. Porque también los hay con piezas de plástico y mi experiencia con ellos es muy mala, por algún motivo no cortan bien. Sin embargo los de metal que he usado son fenomenales.
As we’re with cutting here, one of my favourite tools is the thread cutter. Maybe it’s not so common in the domestic sewing world but it’s so so comfortable and it’s used a lot in industrial sewing. It’s really good to have by your machine to cut threads and it’s quicker than scissors and also good for unpicking. It’s a cheap tool but I’d always recommend you to buy a plain metal ones like on the photo. Because you also have them with plastic parts and my experience with them was quite bad, for some reason they just don’t cut well. But the metal ones are great.
Es pequeño pero es tu mejor amigo, en serio, nos hemos pasado tantos ratos juntos...jaja. Normalmente las máquinas llevan uno en el kit pero también los hay con un mango más grande que resulta más cómodo ya que como dije...se usa mucho!
it’s small but it’s your best friend, really, we’ve spent so much time together, hehe. Normally sewing machines include them in a kit but there are also the ones with a bigger handle that I find more comfortable because as I said...you really use it a lot!
Hola nuevo amigo! Descubrí esta herramienta hace un año o así y mola mucho! Es mi favorito de todos los marcadores. Tiene una rueda y lleva dentro tiza, hace una línea fina y marca sobre todos los tejidos. He probado de Clover y de Sew Mate y lo de Clover es mucho mucho mejor, nunca ha tenido problemas con ninguna tela, la rueda corre con facilidad en muchas texturas y en un paso tienes una línea limpia que se ve bien. Vienen en diferentes colores y tienen relleno. De hecho al escribir esto, abrí por primera vez el cacharro para ver cuánto polvo de tiza le queda ya que lo hemos usado mucho en clase y está casi llena...o sea, lo recomiendo mucho!
Hey new friend! I discovered this tool about a year ago and it’s so cool! It’s my favourite marking tool. It has a wheel and inside there’s chalk powder, it makes an even thin line and marks on all type of fabrics. I’ve tried rollers from Clover and Sew Mate and the Clover one is so much better, I never had problems with no fabric, the wheel runs smooth on many textures and in one pass you’ll have a clean well visible line. They come in different colors and have refills available. Actually when I was writing this I opened the roller for the first time to see how much powder there was left and it wa almost full even tough we’ve been using it in class so much...so I totally recommend this marker!
Aparte del roller me gusta también el rotulador porque en lencería te deja hacer por ejemplo sólo un puntito para marcar el piquete y es muy cómodo. He usado tanto los que se van con agua como los que se van con aire. Los segundos tienen la ventaja de que no hace falta lavar la prenda pero si estás cosiendo durante un periodo de más de un par de días, lo más probable es que todo lo que marcaste se ha ido!
A mí personalmente me gusta tener tanto el roller como el rotulador, uso más roller porque se gasta menos y el rotulador lo dejo casi siempre para cosas muy pequeñas.
Apart from the chaco liner I also like fabric markers because for example in bramaking you need to only mark a little point to see the notch and the marker makes it so easy. I’ve used both the ones that erase with water and with air. The second ones are good because you don’t have to wash anything but if you are sewing your project for more than some days you probably won’t have the markings you made anymore!
I personally like to use both the roller and the marker, I use the roller most of the time as it last longer and the marker is more for smaller stuff.
Los hay distintos y cada uno con su precio. La realidad es que se pierden, a mí se me van con una rapidez! Así que no suelo comprar alfileres caros de flores, bolas o lo que sea, tampoco plancho encima de los alfileres así que lo de punta de cristal como que me da un poco igual. Sí que tienen que ser finos y de calidad para no romper la tela, de la mercería, no del chino...mis favoritos son estos de una marca rusa que son sólo de metal pero la cabeza es redondeada y así se ven mejor (especialmente en el suelo, jaja).
There are so many different ones with different prices too. The reality is that they get lost, a lot! So I don’t really buy fancy pins with flowers, round heads or whatever, I also never iron on my pins so the glass head thing really isn’t important for me. But they sure have to be good quality pins to not ruin your fabrics, buy them in speciality stores not in the supermarket...my favourites are those russian ones that are only metal with the rounded point so you can see them better (especially on the floor, haha).
Para último unas cositas más que no son necesarias para sobrevivir pero que me gustan y son baratillas. Las dos cumplen con la misma función que es ayudar a medir dobladillos etc y las uso bastante a la hora de planchar.
To finish off some not at all essential things to survive, but I like them and they are cheap. Both of them are for the same thing, to measure the fold lines, hems etc, I use them a lot when pressing.

Hola, este año todavía no he escrito nada...así que feliz año! Acabo de volver a la rutina en Madrid y después de comer el roscón y organizar el taller (bueno, en eso estoy todavía a medias, jeje), ahora toca volver a la "normalidad".
Este post está aquí sólo para decir que seguiré con muchos proyectos nuevos este año, espero que os los puedo mostrar pronto. He estado cosiendo varias cosas el mes pasado pero no tengo nada terminado del todo, así que ya vemos cuando pueda publicar algo de eso.
También he estado haciendo patronaje, aprendiendo Illustrator para digitalizar mis patrones, he conseguido muchas cosas nuevas para la tienda (mira los kits con estas telas tan suaves de viscosa!) y he participado en el podcast de costura Maker Style.
Hey, I haven't written anything this year...so happy new year everyone! I've just come back to Madrid and after eating roscón (a typical Spanish desert for the celebrations of Three Kings) and organizing the atelier space (well, that's kind of half way done actually, hehe), now it's time to go back to the "normality".
This post is here just to say that I'm ging to continue with a lot of new projects this year and I hope I can show you more details soon. I've been sewing some things last month but I don't have anything totally ready so lets see when I'll post them here.
I've also been doing patternmaking, learning Illustrator to digitize my patterns, I've sourced some really pretty things for the shop (look at those kits with the softest viscose knit fabrics!) and I've also been on Maker Style podcast.
Como siempre he querido hacer mil cosas, luego me he agobiado y al final he aceptado que un mes da para un mes. No para el trabajo de medio año. A veces hay que volver a recordarlo, jaja.
Empiezan de nuevo las clases, ahora mismo estoy enviando correos a la gente que tengo en la lista de espera y luego vemos si me queda algún hueco para publicarlo aquí.

As always I wanted to do so many things, then I felt anxious for not being able to do all those things and finally I had to accept that one month is one month. There's no way to do the work that would need half a year. Sometimes you need to remember that too, hehe.

Este año ha sido el primero en compartir mis costuras aquí en el blog y en Instagram, así que no sé decir si he cosido más o menos que en los años anteriores. Eso sí, este año he aprendido más que nunca y he cosido cosas que me encantan.
Lencería ha sido seguramente la palabra clave de este año y espero que lo sea para el 2017 también. Tengo muchas cosas en progreso y me gustaría ya enseñaros todo lo que tengo en la mesa de corte!
Este año ha sido especial también porque he conocido a amigas costureras de verdad, de estas que les flipan los patrones y que saben lo difícil que es no entrar a una tienda de telas, jeje....ha sido un gran placer compartir algo que hago todos los días con gente que sí que entiende de lo que estás hablando! Y también he tenido suerte de trabajar con alumnas muy majas que me aportan mucho y me hacen tener el trabajo más guay del mundo. Y si digo que lo que más feliz me hace es la costura y ya habéis visto que algo de coser he hecho este año...pues que ha sido un año muy bonito y productivo y espero que siga así el año que viene!
Espero que lo paséis muy bien en las fiestas de nochevieja y nos vemos aquí en el 2017!
This year has been the first one sharing my sewing on this blog and on Instagram, so I can’t really tell if I made less or more things on the previous years. What I can say is that this year I’ve learned and experimented more than ever and I’ve made things I really love.
Lingerie has for sure been the highlight of this year and I hope it will be so for the next year too. I have many projects in progress and I can’t wait to show you what’s on my cutting table!
This year I also met my first real sewing friends, the ones who are crazy about patterns and understand how difficult it is not to enter a fabric shop, hehe...it has been a pleasure to share something I do daily with people who actually get what you are talking about! Also I’ve been very lucky to work with students who give me so much positive energy and make my job the best one in the world. And if I tell you that the thing that makes me the happiest is sewing, and you can see that some sewing I’ve done this year...well it has been a very beautiful and productive year and hopefully it will be like this also next year!

Happy holidays everyone, we're almost there! If you follow me on Instagram you have probably seen that I've been sewing a lot of lingerie this month and now it's time for a post to recap all the photos here.
El primer conjunto es del sujetador Boylston de Orange Lingerie, con foam en las copas y encaje en color melocotón. Era la primera vez que hice un sujetador de foam con encaje, normalmente los he hecho con tela. Primero pensaba rematart el borde de la pieza de foam superior con FOE, no porque deshilache pero para que quede más "acabado", pero entonces vi que no tenía de blanco y al final lo que hice era pasar un zigzag pequeño para unir el borde de foam con el encaje.
The first set is Boylston bra from Orange Lingerie, with foam cups and peach lace. It was the first time using foam and lace together, I've usually made foam bras with fabric instead. First I thought about finishing the upper cup foam piece with FOE, not so much because it would unravel, but just to have cleaner "finish". But then I discovered I didn't have the right color so what I did was to sew a zigzag stitch to sew the foam and lace parts together.
La braguita es de mi propio patrón, esta vez hice la parte delantera con encaje y la parte trasera con tul elástico en doble capa, con la costura en el centro.
The panties are from my own pattern, this time the front is with lace and the back part with stretch mesh on double layer with a seam in the center back.
Este es el Watsion de Cloth Habit, esta vez con tela de lycra de flores en la versión con la banda más ancha. Me encanta como quedan las arandelas y reguladores en oro rosa con este estampado!
This one is a Watson bra from Cloth Habit, this time with a floral lycra fabric with the wider band option. I love the look of the rose gold rings and sliders combined with this print!
La braguita otra vez la misma pero ahora añadí unos paneles de encaje negro para dar un toque diferente.
Again, the pantie is from my pattern but this time I changed it up with adding lace inserts.
Por dentro está forrado con forro de lencería y tul elástico negro.
It's all lined with black sheer nylon and stretch mesh.
Este conjunto es otra vez Watson con encaje con la banda ancha y otro par de braguitas con un patrón mío que estoy probando, me guista como queda la puntilla así, la parte trasera de nuveo está con tul elástico en doble capa.
This set is with Watson again, this time with lace and a wide band. The panties are another pattern of mine which I'm working with, I love how the lace edge is showing on these ones, the back part again is double stretch mesh.
El último sujetador/bralette no tiene braguita a juego porque lo hice hace poco y no me ha dado tiempo, jeje. Es un patrón que no había usado todavía: Simplicity 8228 diseñado por Madalynne. He hecho la versión halter bra y queda muy bonito con encaje.
The last bra/bralette doesn't have a matching pantie because I just recently finished it and haven't had time to make a set yet. It's a new pattern for me: a Simplicity 8228, designed by Madalynne. I've made the halter bra version that shows off lace so beautifully.
El interior está forrado con tul elástico en color carne y ese modelo también lleva túnel de aros para dar un poco de estabilidad. Mi máquina no quería coser el túnel muy bien esta vez, así que lo hice de fuera y no quedó tan bonito y uniforme desde dentro pero de fuera está bien. Hubiera tenido que cortar las piezas de la copa algo más largas porque me queda un poco justo. De hecjho leí que eso ha pasado a otras costureras también, lo que pasa es que lo leí después de haber cortado todo. Creo que voy a descoser la unión y meter un trozo extra allí para más comodidad.
The inside of the bralette is lined with stretch mesh in nude and this version also has underwire channeling on cups to give more stability. My machine wasn't really glad to sew it this time, so I had to do the sewing from the outside which means it's kinda not right on the inside but looks good from the outside anyway. I should have made the cup neck pieces longer as it is a bit too short for me. I actually read about this but I already had the pieces cut out by then and I guess I'll unpick the seam and insert s little extra part of lace there for more comfort.
Ya está...para que no penséis que estoy cosiendo a lo loco para mí, pues la mayoría de estas piezas son para regalos de navidad. Todos los materiales son de mi tienda. Me ha gustado mucho poder centrarme un poco más para probar nuevas cosas etc y ahora....ahora me voy a poner con patronaje y espero contaros muchas cosas nuevas el año que viene.
Pero tengo planeado otro post todavía para la semana que viene con el conjunto de cosas cosidas este año...a ver si llego a poner aquí todas las fotos, jeje. Mientras tanto espero que paséis las fiestas en buena companía y que tengaís algún rato para coser! Feliz navidad, amigas costureras!
That's it...so to not make you think I'm all crazy sewing lingerie only for me, well most of this is Christmas presents! All the materials are from my shop. I've loved being able to concentrate a bit on trying new things etc and now...now I'll do some patternmaking and I hope I can tell you lots of new stuff next year!
But I actually have another post planned still in this year to recap all the sewing projects I've done this year, hopefully I can manage to put it all in order. Hola! Hoy os traigo después de mucho tiempo algo de la sección infantil. He cosido una ranita con el patrón de Lara Sanner y os voy a contar un poco sobre sus patrones y mi experiencia con éste en particular.
Hey! After a long time today I'm bringing you something from the kids section. I've made a romper with a sewing pattern from Lara Sanner and I'll tell you a bit about her patterns and about this one in particualr.
Este otoño conocí a Lara en persona, pero su trabajo ya lo había visto antes por internet. Es una chica muy maja que hace patrones de costura para bebés y niños y también enseña en las clases de costura en Black Oveja en Madrid. Está poco a poco empezando a sacar más modelos y me gusta mucho su estilo moderno y diferente.
This autumn I had a pleasure to meet Lara in person but I had seen her work online before too. She's a really nice person who makes sewing patterns for babies and kids and also teaches sewing classes in Black Oveja in Madrid. She's launching more patterns these days and I really like her clean and modern style.
Cuando me quedé con ella intercambiamos cositas: ella me dio un patrón suyo y yo le di un kit de lencería de los míos. Así que no he comprado este patrón pero mi valoración del patrón no tiene que ver con ese hecho, jeje.
En este patrón vienen diferentes modelos: vestido, mono y ranita en tallas de 0-24 meses. Aunque a mi nena le valdría probablemente todavía por ejemplo el vestido, tengo que reconocer que me da mucha pereza planchar y evito a toda costa que ella tenga ropa que no sea de punto (#malamadre) y por eso decidí mejor hacer la ranita para regalar a un bebé más pequeño.
When I met her we exchanged some things: she gave me this pattern and I gave her one of my lingerie kits. So this means I didn't buy this pattern but my opinion is not affected by that fact, hehe.
This pattern has three variations: a dress, a jumpsuit and a romper in sizes 0-24 months. Altough my girl could probably fit into the dress in that pattern, I have to say that I'm super lazy about ironing clothes and I always try to avoid making/buying her clothes that are not made from knit fabrics (sorry, lazy mom here) and that's why I decided to make this romper for a baby boy as a gift instead.
Lo que mola de los patrones de Lara Sanner es que tienen todo explicado paso a paso. Y si digo todo, es porque es TODO. Estaba leyendo las instrucciones y hasta me hice con palabras técnicas nuevas gracias a entender los dibujos al lado. Las revistas Burda y Patrones...allí voy que ahora me entero (un poquíto más) que decís en vuestras explicaciones en castellano, jajaaaa.
The cool thing about Lara Sanners patterns is that everything is explained step by step. And by everything I mean EVERYTHING. I was reading the instructions and actually learnt some new tecnical sewing terms in Spanish thanks to the drawings next to the text. Burda and Patrones magazines...here I come as I might even understand (a bit more) your instructions in Spanish, hahaa.
Aparte del texto, como he dicho, vienen los dibujos técnicos que ayudan mucho y hacen muy claro el proceso y por eso me parecen patrones muy guays para gente que empieza a coser porque son fáciles de entender desde el principio hasta el final.
As I mentioned, apart from the text there are nice drawings to clear the steps out for you so that's why I think these patterns are very beginner friendly because you can really understand the process from the beginning until the end.
Las técnicas generelaes como fruncir o coser botones a mano también tienen su sitio en las explicaciones, es muy completo todo y parece un pequeño libro de costura. Me alegro mucho de ver algo así en castellano!
The general sewing techniques like gathering or sewing buttons by hand also have their separate space in the instructions, it's really a complete guide and looks like a little sewing book. I really love seeing something like that in Spanish!
Así que me ha parecido muy guay el concepto de este patrón. Me lié un poco con el cuello y estaba un rato pensando cómo encajarlo bien del todo pero creo que al final conseguí que esté de manera correcta. También aunque no vino en las explicaciones puse entretela también en la entrepierna para hacer más fuerte la parte donde van los snaps. Usé snaps tanto allí como en la abertura de la espalda porque es más fácil que coser ojales y porque los padres de este pequeño me van a dar las gracias cada vez que NO tienen que luchar con los botones para abrir la prenda (quizás todavía recuerdo demasiado bien como lo odiaba mi nena, jaja).
So I think the concept of her patterns is really cool. I was a bit confused with the collar part and where to attatch it exactly but I guess I fugured it out after some thinking (it's not too hard, right, haha). I also put inetrfacing both in the back opening and the opening between the legs to make it stronger for the snaps. I used snaps on both of the openings instead of buttons and buttonholes because it's easier for me and the lil' guys parents will thank me every time they DON'T have to fight with the buttons when changing the clothes on their baby (I guess I remember too well how my girl hated the dressing part, hahaa).
Llego a escribir este post justo cuando Lara ha sacado más patrones y esta vez de punto, aleluya! Eso sí que alegra a los padres y a los bebés también, porque oyes, ser un bebé al final es como pasar el día en el gimnasio...que si gatear, que si subir, andar, caer... Así que en mi humilde opinión las prendas de punto son lo más.
I'm writing this post exactly when Lara is launching new patterns and this time for knit fabrics, haleluyah! This should make parents and babies very happy because come on, being a baby in the end is like you'd pass the day in the gym...crawling, standing up, walking, falling down... So in my humble opinion the clothes made with knit fabrics are the best thing.
Me alegro mucho de haber conocido a Lara y que haya gente que hace un trabajo tan bonito y acerca la costura a más gente que empieza con esta afición, a través de patrones e instrucciones bien hechos. Enhorabuena Lara por tus nuevos patrones y te sigo cerca para ver qué más está por llegar!

Hola! Como prometido en este post, escribo sobre uno de los libros de costura que puse en la lista de regalos para estas navidades. El libro es "Handmade Style" de Anna Graham y tiene un montón de proyectos bonitos de costura con explicaciones paso a paso.
En general no tengo muchos libros de este tipo pero últimamente me he hecho con varios porque me parecen muy buenos para tener de inspiración en las clases de costura aquí en el taller. Este libro en particular me llamó la atención porque es de la creadora del blog Noodlehead que sigo desde hace años y siempre me ha gustado su estilo moderno y limpio.
Hey! As promised in that post I'll write a bit about one of the books I added to the holiday gift list this year. The book is "Handmade Style" from Anna Graham and it is full of beautiful sewing projects with detailed construction methods.
In general I don't have many books like this but lately I've bought some becuase I find them very inspiring for the sewing classes here in my atelier. This particulat book caught my attention as it's written by the creator of the blog Noodlehead which I've been following for years now and I've always liked it for its modern and clean style.
Sabía más o menos qué esperar del libro pero cuando llegó, me sorprendió aún más lo bonito que es...todas las fotos me dan ganas de coser los proyectos que vienen en él. Para empezar hice este alfiletero grande con compartimientos para tenerlo aquí en el taller y así están todas las cositas pequeñas en un sitio encima de la mesa. Me parece un proyecto muy práctico y las instrucciones están muy bien explicadas para hacerlo paso a paso.
I knew more or less what to expect from the book but when it arrived I was even more surprised to see how beautiful it is...all the photos make me want to sew the projects in there. To start with I made this big pin cushion with departments for the atlier to put all the little tools in it and organize the table. I find it very practical and the instructions are well written with all the steps clearly explained.
Otra cosa que he hecho del libro es esta funda para el tablet que está forrada y por dentro también tiene foam para proteger su contenido. La tela es de Ikea, tengo debilidad por las telas en blanco y negro y eso de "sólo pasar por la parte de tejidos en Ikea" no funciona muy bien en mi caso, jeje. El modelo tiene un bolsillo grande en un lado y otro pequeño para los auriculares etc en el otro.
The other project I made from the book is this tablet case which is lined and also has foam to protect the inside. The fabric is from Ikea, I have a weak spot for black and white fabrics and "only passing by the fabric secton in Ikea" doesn't really work for me, hehe. This model has a big pocket on one side and another smaller one for headphones etc on the other side.
Yo soy como soy y lo que siempre pasa es que algo tengo que cambiar y hacerlo de mi manera. Este es uno de los ejemplos por qué no debería hacerlo, jaja. Me gusta más terminar las cremalleras metálicas con los topes hechos con tela y así hice también en esta funda, en vez de cerrar la cremallera directamente con el bies en los laterales como había que hacerlo según el libro. Todo bien mono hasta que metes allí dentro el tablet...pues estos cm que "quité" ya no dejan mover al tablet con facilidad y aunque sí que cabe allí dentro, no es nada práctico porque hay que forzarlo para que entre. Bieeen, lección aprendida, jaja.
I know myself so what happens always is that I have to change something about the original project and make it my way. This one here is one of the examples when you shouldn't do it, hehe. I prefer to close my metalic zips with small pieces of fabric and this is how I did it on that case too, instead of closing the zipper ends with the bias tape as shown in the book. It's all cute until you put the tablet in there...the extra cm the new tops take away don't let the tablet move freely and altough it can be put in there it's not practical at all because you need to push it to enter. Welll, lesson learnt, hehe.
Y a partir de aquí os dejo fotos de las cosas bonitas que tiene este libro...hay un poco de todo y eso me gusta mucho porque me parece un regalo ideal para alguien quien cose.
And now I'll leave you some photos of the beautiful things in the book...there are many different projects and I love it, that's why I think it's such a good gift idea for someone who sews.
Las instrucciones están bien escritas y muchos pasos también tienen dibujos para visualizarlo mejor. Los patrones vienen en hojas separadas para poder calcarlos con comodidad.
The instructions are clearly written and some of the steps also have illustrations which make them easier to understand. The patterns come in separate sheets so it's easy to copy them from there.
Espero que os haya gustado este libro y por si estáis dudando si comprarlo o no, ya lo habéis podido "hojear", yo sí que lo recomiendo, me parece uno de los más bonitos que he visto últimamente!
I hope you liked this book and if you are still in doubt if you should buy it, now you've been able to "flip through" it, I really recommend it as for me it's one of the cutest sewing books I've seen lately!
